A Bulgarian fifth-grade student has ranked high in an international maths contest, media reported Saturday.

The boy solved 66 mathematical problems in two minutes simply using his wits, and came out fourth in the competition.

Hani Bahi told Sofia-based bTV channel that it was poor command of German language that kept him from performing even better.

Bahi, whose mother has been living in Germany, learned about the contest by accident, and decided to enrol.
