Bulgaria's state radio BNR threw the door open for guests on Saturday, as part of the radio's 70th Anniversary celebrations.

Residents of capital Sofia were able to peer inside the studios and examine the broadcasting equipment that brings news, analysis and entertainment to their homes daily.

On the year of its 70th anniversary, BNR will also give out its annual awards "Sirak Skitnik", named after its first director, on January 24.

A bust monument of Skitnik was inaugurated in the radio's entrance hall Saturday.

The online version of BNR ( http://www.bnr.bg ) offers radio broadcasting live in 11 languages, which won it the Web Site of 2004 award.
