British Soldier Admits Iraqi Detainee Abuse

A British soldier has pleaded guilty to assaulting an unknown man in a Basra aid camp at the start of a court martial in Germany. Lance Corporal Darren Larkin is one of three British soldiers, accused of mistreating Iraqi detainees at a camp known as Camp Bread. Corporal Daniel Kenyon and L/Cpl Mark Cooley entered not guilty pleas. The alleged offences took place on or around 15 May 2003, weeks after coalition troops had ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's regime.
