The Bulgarian top tennis player Magdalena Maleeva has risen by one place in the World rank list, standing now at the 26th position.

The rank list was published just before the opening of the Australian Open 2005 on January 17.

Maleeva will encounter Spanish ace Magui Serna in the first round of Australian Open 2005 on the first day of the tournament.

Maleeva has participated eleven Australian Open's in her career so far, as compared to Serna's eight.

The other Bulgarian participant in the Australian Open, the 15-aged wonder of world tennis Sesil Karatantcheva has dropped to 110th position in the rank list.
