The wonder girl of Bulgarian and world tennis Sesil Karatantcheva is just within an arm's reach to find a place in the main scheme of Australian Open after defeating Maria Fernanda Alves 6-3 6-3.
The 15-aged Sesil, seeded No 1 at the qualification series, faced no major challenge in the match with her 21-year-old Brazilian rival.
With 86% of won services and just 10 mistakes, Karatantcheva will now have to outplay Shahar Peer of Israel to enter the main scheme of Australian Open.
Meanwhile, another Bulgarian tennis star Magdalena Maleeva will play at No 22 in the tournament against a strong rival - Magui Serna of Spain.
