US People's Choice Goes to Michael Moore

Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 documentary was voted Best Film at the US People's Choice Awards.

The controversial film was highly critical of US President George Bush and the US-led invasion of Iraq. It lashed the President for his alleged connections with Bin Laden cells and other Arab groupings. Moore also scourged Bush for overlooking terror warnings before the September 11 attack.

Moore dedicated his People's Choice trophy to soldiers in Iraq.

Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ won best drama, while Shrek 2 took three prizes - top animated movie, top film comedy and top sequel.

Julia Roberts and Johnny Depp won the female and male favourite movie star awards.
