Residents of Bulgaria's capital Sofia planted in the biggest Southern park the first 400 Christmas trees in what is to be called a Christmas Forest.

The project aims to prevent unscrupulous cutting of conifers before the Christmas holidays.

Launched in capital Sofia, the initiative will hopefully spread to other cities in the forthcoming years, according to the organizers at the foundation Mission for Protection of the Environment and Water.
