Bulgaria's best tennis player Magdalena Maleeva will perform at the quarterfinals of Gold Coast after defeating Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic.
After defeating the Ukrainian Youliana Fedak in the first round on Sunday, she qualified for the quarters with a 7-5 6-2 win over her Czech rival.
The eighth-seed Maggie Maleeva, the youngest of three Maleeva sisters in the world tennis, will next meet the local favorite Samantha Stosur of Australia for the Gold Coast purse of USD 170,000.
Maggie won her opening match in doubles as well. Together with Elena Likhovtseva the two defeated Els Callens and Lisa McShea.
Meanwhile, Likhovtseva will face Wednesday Bulgaria's young hopeful Sesil Karatantcheva.
Bulgaria's Maggie Maleeva, Italian Silvia Farina Elia and Australia's Samantha Stosur won their second round matches to move into the quarter-finals.
