NASA Administrator Quits

NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe has resigned after being offered a 500,000-dollars-a-year job at Louisiana State University. In his resignation letter to President Bush, O'Keefe said he would stay on the job until a successor is named, hoping that the Senate would approve his replacement by February. Together, we've enjoyed unprecedented success and seen each other through arduous circumstances," O'Keefe wrote. "This was the most difficult decision I've ever made, but it's one I felt was best for my family and our future." During his three years at the U.S. space agency the fatal break-up of shuttle Columbia occurred. O'Keefe has been tipped as a likely candidate for chancellor of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
