At least 33 people were killed after an explosion at the coal mine in the Shanxi province, northern China, according to officials. More than 70 people were in the shaft when the explosion occurred. Last month, 166 people died in a gas explosion in a mine in the neighbouring province of Shaanxi - China's worst mining accident for a decade.
