Iraq Firm on Poll Date

Iraq's interim President has backed the date for the planned elections -- January 30 -- despite the ongoing violence inside the country. Ghazi al-Yawar was cited as saying that any delay would prolong Iraqis' agony and increase resentment. Over December 3-5 alone, at least 68 Iraqis have been killed in a series of attacks by insurgets.
