Italy Train Crash Injures 78 People

Seventy-eight people have been injured, one seriously, when a goods train that had failed to observe a stop sign smashed into the rear of an inter-city passenger train in south-eastern Italy. Officials say the crash occurred late on Thursday in open countryside near the town of Castellaneta di Taranto in Puglia province. The seriously injured person is a 16-year-old boy, who lost an arm. The passenger train was an intercity express travelling from Reggio di Calabria to Bari on the south-eastern tip of Italy.
