Bulgaria's nuclear plant Kozlodui will be among the few in the world equipped with a strategy for crisis management in grave nuclear accidents.

The strategy developed in partnership with Electricite de France, Finland's Fortun, and Bulgarian engineering companies can be adopted till end of this year, Kozlodui's modernization chief Sabin Sabinov told a local radio.

With the financial support of EUR 2.5 M under the PHARE program, the strategy will arm the plant's staff with the best optional way to manage an eventual nuclear accident.

Units 3 and 4 have seen a thorough modernization this year worth EUR 15 M, Sabinov said adding that they were spent mainly on the reduction of radiation as environment and minimization of its impact on the population.
