Bulgaria's football team hardly managed to score for 1-1 against Egypt in a friendly game played in Cairo.

In front of a public of over 2,000 football fans Bulgaria's Emil Gargorov saved its team from a 0-1 defeat after scoring in the 92nd minute of the game. The Egyptian team opened the score in the 85th minute after mistakes from Bulgaria's Karaslavov and Venkov.

Over the first 45 minutes the Egyptian hosts dominated the game and it was the professionalism of the Bulgarian goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov that saved the Bulgarian net. Ivankov stopped a penalty in the 25th minute performed by Mohammad Barakat.

The Bulgarian team played better in the second half of the match but couldn't stop the Egyptian attack in the 85th minute when the score was opened.

Bulgaria's coach Hristo Stoitchkov chose Dimitar Ivankov, Asen Karaslavov, Georgi Markov, Elin Topuzakov, Mihail Venkov, Blagoy Georgiev, Chavdar Yankov, Ivan Stoyanov, Martin Kamburov, Stoyko Sakaliev and Georgi Iliev for the game. Stoitchkov named an entirely home-based squad.
