Youngsters and adults sang and applauded for more than an hour the lavish rock-opera Patriarch Evtimii staged in Sofia's National Palace of Culture.

This is the third performance of the spectacular play after Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo felt the thrill of medieval times in the dawn of one of grievest tragedies in Bulgarian history - the fall of Bulgarian state under Ottoman yoke.

The epic rock-opera represents the emblematic spiritual figure of Bulgaria's Patriarch Evtimii who is remembered by history as defender of the old capital Tarnovo and Bulgaria.

The play is developed on the verses of Ivan Vazov who wrote the poetic cycle Tarnovo Legends.
