Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart George Bush discussed at their meeting in Santiago Saturday bilateral relations and Russia-US interaction on the international arena. Leaders of Asian and Pacific countries arrived in the Chilean capital for a weekend summit focusing of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on trade and economic issues. Thousands of anti-Bush and anti-globalization protesters took to the streets of the city, at times clashing with police who used tear gas and water cannons to control the crowds.
