Bulgaria handed out Wednesday its most prestigious journalism awards, Chernorizets Hrabur.

The winners in four different categories were named during a Sofia ceremony, attended by President Georgi Parvanov and Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov.

The big BGN 10,000 prize went to Dimitri Ivanov for his overall work, while Alexeniya Dimitrova from the 24 Chasa daily was praised for her journalistic researches.

Young Yulia Staneva (Pari daily) was named this year's best photo reporter.

Sega newspaper's Petyo Tsekov landed the award in the category of analytical and commentary material.

The winners were picked by the 42-member Chernorizets Hrabur Academy, chaired by media expert Georgi Lozanov.

The ceremony took place at the edifice of the National Theater Ivan Vazov.
