France Begins Ivory Coast Evacuation

Continuing anti-French demonstrations in Ivory Coast have prompted the evacuation of French nationals from the area. The unrest came in response to the French destruction of the Ivorian Air Force, following the killing of nine French peacekeepers on Saturday. An airplane with the first 270 people onboard took off from the main city, Abidjan, on Wednesday. Ivory Coast is a former French colony where there are currently about 10,000 peacekepers from France and the United Nations (UN).
