Germans Mark Berlin Wall Fall

Ceremonies to mark the 15th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be held in the German capital on Tuesday. The city's mayor will lay a wreath, while the chancellor when the wall fell, Helmut Kohl, will be taking part in a public debate. The barrier was constructed by the East German communist authorities in 1961, in response to the growing numbers of citizens fleeing into West Berlin. The wall became the most potent symbol of the Cold War.
