Italy's football grands has hustled to contact with Lecce to negotiate the transfer of the League A's top scorer Valeri Bojinov from Bulgaria.

Roma has reportedly offered EUR 10 M for the 18-aged striker after he scored twice for Italy's Lecce, saving his team from an Inter defeat with a draw 2-2 in Serie A on Wednesday.

He netted from an acute angle shortly after the break to bring his side on level terms and join Adriano on six goals for the season. Victory for Lecce would have taken them to within two points of leaders Juventus, but instead they fell one place to third on 15 points, three ahead of fifth-placed Inter.

However, Barcelona are favourites to land Lecce's wonder striker at the end of the season.

The teenage sharpshooter is being chased by Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Arsenal, but his relationship with former Barca star Hristo Stoitchkov has led the Spanish giants to being outright favourites to land the youngster.

Roma are Bojinov's preferred option, but their cash problems are unlikely to see them match the spending power of Barca when the summer market opens next June.
