Cyprus experts will join their Bulgarian colleagues in exploring the case with the recently found in Bulgaria precious painting believed to be a Titian stolen from Cyprus.
The Italian Renaissance painting stolen a year ago in Cyprus, possibly a Titian, was recovered in the Bulgarian city Stara Zagora in a police raid that took place in the beginning of October.
The Cyprus experts are to work for the returning of the painting back to the island. The painting, said to be "Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac" is worth over USD 5 M.
Greek Fileleftheros newspaper reported that the painting was stolen along with another 10 valuable paintings on July 8, 2003 from the home of Georgus Pieridiss in Nicosia.
According to the media report a major obstacle for the returning of the picture to Cyprus would be bureaucracy in the Bulgarian judicial system.
