Cuba Bans Shopping with USD

World | October 26, 2004, Tuesday // 00:00

Cuba announced it is to ban commercial transactions in US dollars from November 8. Dollars will no longer be accepted in shops and other businesses, and those exchanging dollars will have to pay 10% commission. Dollars were made legal tender in 1993 following an economic crisis sparked by the collapse of the Soviet Union.
