Bulgaria's Mila from Mars will compete with movies from 49 countries for nomination for the foreign-language prize of February's Academy Awards.

The film directed by young director Zornitsa Sofia swept the top award, with a purse of EUR 25,000, at the Sarajevo Film Festival earlier in end August.

The number of movie entries for Oscar foreign-language nomination was down from last year, when a record of 56 countries submitted films for Oscar consideration. Each country is allowed to submit one film.

Oscar nominations will be announced January 25 and awards will be presented February 27.
