Orthodox Church celebrates the female saint Petka of Turnovo, worshipped for her healing abilities.

Patriarch Maxim will serve a liturgy in connection with the holiday at the St. Petka Samardjiiska Church in Sofia.

Currently the remains of the saint are kept in Romania's town of Yash.

Traditional beliefs consider this day as a cornerstone between summer and autumn and mark the start of harvesting season.
