Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva has ended Monday her play in the Kremlin Cup Tournament with a defeat from hosts' Vera Douchevina.

The 29-aged best tennis player of Bulgaria faced fierce opposition from the 17-year-old Russian and eventually retreated with 7-5, 4-6, 4-6.

Vera Douchevina entered the prestigious Moscow tournament, with a purse of USD 1.3 M, after receiving "a wild card" from the hosts.

The youngest of the three sisters Maleeva won the Kremlin Cup in 2002 after ousting US Lindsey Davenport.
