Bulgarian tennis hopeful Sesil Karatantcheva has recorded a wonderful start in Japan's Open Tournament going a step away to the quarter-finals.

The teen tennis player coached by stars' mentor Nick Bollettieri was successful to qualify for the prestigious Asian tournament on Monday and garnered her first firm victory a day later outplaying Spain's Arancha Para Santonia.

Karatantcheva has defeated her rivals in 18 out of 21 matches since the start of this year, retreating only to Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova (Indian Wells), to the US Open winner Svetlana Kuznetsova and to France's Camille Peinne in Vancouver.
