“The fact that Bulgaria has a new president will not change NATO stand on the country’s accession to the alliance,” Richard Miles, U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria said in Plovdiv on November 19. He pointed out that the Bulgaria will become NATO member if it manages to meet the criteria of the alliance. According to him Bulgaria’s accession depends on the decision of the nineteen member states. Ambassador Miles was in Plovdiv at the invitation of Plovdiv mayor Ivan Chomakov in connection with U.S. investments in Bulgaria. Richard Miles had meetings with representatives of religious communities in the town.
