At least 35 people were killed and another 140 wounded in three apparently coordinated car bomb blasts near a US military convoy in southern Baghdad. Many of the casualties are children, officials and doctors said, cited by international news agencies. A US army officer said insurgents targeted a military convoy. The second and third blasts occurred as American troops raced to help those hurt in the first explosion.
