Georgi Purvanov, 44, history graduate and leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, will be inaugurated as Bulgaria's new president next January. Thus, Bulgaria will have a Socialist as head of state for the first time since 1990. Petur Mladenov was leftist President of Bulgaria from April 3 to June 6, 1990.
