US Book Praises Bulgaria's Courage in WWII

The "King's Ransom," recently released in the US tells the story of Bulgaria's Tsar Boris III and unveils his efforts to save its entire population of nearly 50,000 Jews from Hitler's concentration camps.

Jan Beazely and Thom Lemmons' book is based on a true story. It reveals the incredible sacrifices Bulgaria's king and its nation made to save its Jews.

But that book tells more than one story. The astonishing facts of Tsar Boris' successful campaign are interwoven with the fictional love story of Daria, the Jewish attendant to the Bulgarian royal family, and Dobri, a sergeant in the king's bodyguard.
The book is compared to both Academy Award-winning films Schindler's List and The Pianist.
