Bulgaria's Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg will present to Spain the Thracian mask found recently near the Shipka Peak in Bulgaria.
Special leaflets with photo of the mask will be handed out during Saxe-Coburg's visit to Spain, which starts September 29. The leaflets are written in Spanish and describe Bulgaria's culture, history and business opportunities.
The unique mask has already triggered interest among museums in Japan, France, and Spain that have declared their readiness to arrange a visit.
The mask is 2,500-year-old, and is believed to depict the face of an ancient Thracian king, probably that of Seutus III or Theres, both ruled around V century BC. The place where the gold item was discovered is probably the king's gravesite.
The archeologist who made the sensational discovery came upon a whole new Thracian treasure. A golden ring, ornate silver, bronze and ceramic pieces were also found at the same place.
