The United States has reached a tentative agreement with France, Britain and Germany on a draft UN resolution for Iran that calls for an immediate halt to Tehran's uranium enrichment programme. The agreement still has to be approved by most of the 35 nations on the governing board of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA. The US has reportedly dropped its key demand that Iran comply with the resolution by October 31. Instead the text now calls for further steps if Tehran fails to meet the deadline. The draft also calls on the IAEA board to make a decision in November whether to report Iran to the UN Security Council.
