More and more Bulgarians prefer co-habitation to marriage, a survey conducted by Assa-M agency showed.
Nearly 51% of the young Bulgarians say that they would prefer to live together with their partner rather than marry him. The other 49% think that their relationship would be completed only if they have tied the knot with their beloved one.
The number of children born without their parents being married has also considerably gone up, the Assa-M agency survey shows. The tolerance towards co-habitation does not necessarily means more liberal views on childbearing, the survey found.
There are different factors for the demographic crisis that hit Bulgaria over the last years, researches point out. Law birth rate and high death rate among children along with the fact that more and more Bulgarians give birth to their children abroad are just a part of the problems the country is currently facing.
