Henrik Larsson broke Celtic hearts with a goal against his former club on Tuesday as Barcelona romped to a 3-1 Champions League victory over the Scottish champion.

The Swede, who collected 240 goals in seven seasons for Celtic, scored the third six minutes from the end.

The captain of the Bulgarian national team Stilian Petrov couldn't save his club from the defeat but looked good when in possession in the first half. Still, he rarely found himself on the ball and was preoccupied by trying to help his defence stem the tide.

Barcelona went ahead in the 20th minute through Deco. After Ronaldinho had a penalty saved by David Marshall, Celtic levelled through second half substitute Chris Sutton in the 59th minute. But Ludovic Giuly regained the lead for the Spanish soccer giant 11 minutes from the end when he finished off a move that involved former Larsson. And the Swede added the third after intercepting a defensive header by former teammate Alan Thompson.

That result put an end to Celtic's record of 19 games unbeaten in European competition over three years.
