Poor Start for Bulgarians in Iceland

Bulgaria's football youth national team suffered a defeat 1:3 in the European qualifier for the 2006 World Cup against Iceland in Group 8.

Iceland secured the victory with two successful penalty strikes made by Hannes Sigurdsson.

Vladislav Zlatinov netted yet another goal for Bulgaria, but the referee scratched it.

Bulgaria's national team, headed by new coach Hristo Stoitchkov, are in European Group Eight with Croatia, Hungary, Malta, Sweden and Iceland, who they will face in their first qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup on September 4.
