Bulgarian sportsmen performed excellently at the Athens Olympic Games, according to Sports Minister Vassil Ivanov.

In an interview for private bTV channel Ivanov also said that despite the recent success the sportsmen should start as soon as possible their preparation for the next Olympic Games.

Sports Minister Ivanov underlined that recent bidding scandal in which Bulgarian IOC member Ivan Slavkov was involved didn't affect the Bulgarian sportsmen.

Bulgaria swept a total of 12 medals - two Gold, a Silver and nine Bronze, occupying 20th place in the final medal count list of all participating countries.
