At least seven people were killed and 45 injured in a pileup involving a coach and 10 cars in southern France. The accident happened on one of the busiest weekends of the year at Belin-Beliet on the Bayonne-Bordeaux highway. More than 130 firemen, 24 ambulances and fire engines were on the scene as some of the victims had to be cut out of their smashed vehicles. The Spanish-registered coach, carrying several north African passengers, overturned in the incident. All the vehicles involved were on the same side of the motorway. The cause is unknown.
