Shiite Muslims in Najaf have flocked to the Imam Ali shrine after a long-anticipated deal between security forces and radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. He had barricaded himself in the holy complex, and continuously refused to hand over control during months of talks and clashes. An agreement was finally reached on Thursday night, for Sadr loyalists out of the shrine and US forces out of Najaf. Imam Ali is the holiest place in Shia Islam.
