At least 25 people were killed and 60 wounded in a mortar bomb explosion in main Kufa mosque, controlled by Shiite militiamen. According to people who ferried the wounded to the hospital, hundreds had gathered at the mosque, preparing to greet Iraq's Shiite Muslim spiritual leader Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. He is heading to his home in nearby Najaf.
