Greece Plays Bulgaria's Anthem Out of Tune

Sports | August 26, 2004, Thursday // 00:00

The organizers of Athens Olympic Games play out of tune the Bulgaria's anthem, the Bulgarian Olympic delegation complained.

A year before the start of the Olympic Games in Athens, the Bulgarian Olympics Committee sent the organizers the musical score of "Mila Rodino" and a recording of the anthem.

The Greek organizers have apparently made their own interpretation of the anthem, ignoring the original score.

This is the reason why the Bulgarian anthem sounded different during the medal ceremonies of Olympic champions Maria Grozdeva and Milen Dobrev, the Bulgarian delegation claims.

The Bulgarian Olympic delegation has officially requested the organizers to play the Bulgarian anthem right should the country wins another Olympic title.
