The Athens 2004 successful performance of Bulgarian sprint talent Ivet Lalova placed her into the top 10 of the IAAF's Event Ranking with 7th place reached for the first time in her career.

This season's best sprinter, with June domestic score of 10.77, ended fifth in her 200m finish on Wednesday night sealing the best ever performance of Bulgaria at Olympic games so far.

With a score of 22.57 sec, Ivet lagged behind the Gold Winner Veronica Campbell from Jamaica who headed the final sprint with 22.05 sec.

Lalova's fourth place in the 100m finals on Monday could let her grab the bronze in the series in the dawn of the recent doping scandal involving the name of Belarus' Gold Winner Yuliya Nesterenko.

Yuliya Nesterenko of Belarus completed her incredible journey from rank outsider to global sprint star by becoming the first non-American since 1980 to win the Olympic Games women's 100 metres title.

Bulgaria' Ivet Lalova skipped the medal leaving behind the bronze medallist Veronica Campbell from Jamaica with only 3 hundredth of result at the finish.

The fate of 100-meter medals is expected to be known on Wednesday when also late in the night Lalova will run at 200m at Athens' Olympics Stadium.
