Bulgaria's Canoe Sails to Semi-Finals

Bulgarian Stanimir Atanassov advanced to the semi-finals in men's 1000 m canoe in Athens Olympic games.

Atanassov crossed the finish line second, clocking 3:55.590 minutes.

He was outstripped by Germany's Andreas Dittmer (3:52.922 minutes), one of the three winners, who earn directly a place in the finals.

In a separate development Milko Kazanov, Ivan Hristov, Peter Merkov and Yordan Yordanov qualified directly for the finals, finishing second in the qualifying round in the men's canoe-kayak flatwater racing fours with 2:54.252 minutes.
