The name of Bulgaria's coach Hristo Stoitchkov has been discussed unofficially as a nomination for IOC membership in case that the country's current member Ivan Slavkov is ousted.

The news was released by a local sports radio quoting high-profile sports official who confirmed that there were already talks under way to agree upon the nomination of Bulgaria's best footballer to take over the place of Slavkov.

The former chief of Bulgarian FC Naftex Hristo Portochanov said also that the IOC is likely to decide over the Bulgarian IOC membership during its next 2005 session.

The IOC provisionally suspended Slavkov, who is also presiding over the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and the Football Union, and rescinded his accreditation to the Olympic Games after the BBC's Panorama programme showed him telling undercover reporters that he might vote for London in return for money.

BBC panorama footage "Buying the Games" accused Bulgarian IOC member Ivan Slavkov of inappropriate conduct in the 2012 Olympic bidding process and vote-purchasing. The reporters posed as business consultants, keen to help bring the 2012 games Olympics to London's East End.

In the wake of the scandal, in an interview for BBC Bulgarian section the BBC consultant Andrew Jennings expressed his believe that Ivan Slavkov would not remain "suspended" for long, but the IOC would "hurry to oust him" and cleanse the organization's image from the mar of corruption.

Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov is set to meet Sunday IOC President Jacques Rogge who is invited to attend the cocktail in Bulgarian Olympic vilalge dedicated to the Day of Bulgaria celebrated Sunday-Monday in Athens.
