Bulgaria's top swimmer Petar Stoychev failed to qualify for the Olympics' swimming finals.

Stoychev was ranked 32nd in the men's 400 free style after stopping the watch at 3;59.86 minutes.

Yet another Bulgarian swimmer 17-year old Ana Dangalakova failed to qualify for the finals after registering time of 5:01.0 minutes in the Women's 400m Individual Medley.

Also on Saturday USA's Michael Phelps broke his previous world record in the Men's 400m Individual Medley Final, with time 4:08:26. This is the first Swimming world record which is broken during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
