Terror Alert in Italy

Security measures have been tightened in Italy, around airports especially, following repeated but unverified terror threats against the country that have appeared on the Internet. On August 1st, a statement sent by an Al-Qaeda-linked group to an Arabic newspaper gave Italy a 15-day ultimatum to leave Iraq.
Even though 2 days later Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades posted a statement on its own Web site denying such threat, security in and around major Italian cities has been visibly increasing. It is unclear who the actual authors of the statements threatening attacks against Italy are.
