French Camille Pin defeated Bulgaria's tennis prodigy Sesil Karatantcheva at the quarterfinals of the international tournament in Vancouver, Canada.
The French, seeded 114 in the World Tennis Association rankings., defeated Sesil 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Karatantcheva, 15, defeated Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld (7-5, 6-4) to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Third-seeded Alina Jidkova and fourth-seeded Laura Granville Friday each earned three-set wins to move into the semifinals at the inaugural USD 110,000 Odlum Brown Vancouver Women's Open.
Jidkova will take on unseeded Nicole Vaidisova, while Granville will battle Camille Pin in Saturday's semifinals.
