At least 17 people were killed Thursday and a US helicopter was shot down as Coalition troops fought with Shiite Muslim followers of the radical Iraqi cleric Al-Sadr. More than 100 people were reported wounded in the Shiite south and the Baghdad slum stronghold Al-Sadr. This was the fiercest battle since a truce was brokered in June.
