Over 35, 000 Greek fans are expected to flock to Lisbon for tonight's EURO 2004 final.
The entire country is obsessed with the idea of getting to Portugal to offer support to their team in its historic match. Many have hit the road with their cars, buses or trains as all plane tickets' were absolutely sold out.
At present a total of 12, 331 Greek fans will be the lucky ones that will enjoy the game at Estбdio da Luz.
Among Greece supporters at da Luz will be a good portion of the country's government and political leadership, including Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis and main opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou.
As the countdown to the big match begins, team coach Otto Rehhagel is easing up the pressure on his team and give them a rest after a gruelling 20 days. The Greek players will train at the imposing da Luz stadium later on Saturday night, after Rehhagel gives the customary press conference on the eve of the match.
Greece's 'golden eleven' - who entered the tournament as rank outsiders and upset all predictions with their relentless advance to the final - will face favourites Portugal, coached by Italian Louis Felipe Scolari playing to a home crowd. The Greek side came off best during their previous encounter with Portugal in the opening rounds of the tournament and hopes within Greece are riding high that they can pull it off again.
