Conservative Horst Koehler has sworn in as Germany's head of state on Thursday. Koehler, 61, is the ninth president of the post-war country who was previously head of the IMF. In his first presidential speech, he called on Germans not to avoid painful economic reforms and see further developing their proud "Made in Germany" symbol. Koehler stressed on the need of EU common market to overhaul its welfare system and job market.
