More than 130 Die in Dominican Storms At least 76 people, nearly half of them children, were killed when a rain-swollen river burst its banks and swept away dozens of fragile homes in the western Dominican Republic on Monday. Photo by WN.

More than 130 people have died after torrential rains hit the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. At least 80 people were killed in the Dominican Republic, fifty-eight people were reported killed in flooding in Haiti. Weather forecasts say the heavy rains will continue throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
